5 Ways to Organize Your Home for the Holidays
The holiday season has arrived, which means that there’s less time for cleaning when friends and family are in town. Is your home in need of a little (or a lot of!) organizing? We’re sharing five easy ways to organize your home, streamline clutter and make your house stress-free this holiday season. Keep reading for our top tips!
Organize mail and paper in one place.
We know you’ve probably received loads of holiday cards this year in addition to your usual mail. Instead of letting mail and loose paper pile up in different areas around your home, designate one space as a catch-all for these documents. We recommend using a small box to deposit any mail that needs to be filed or addressed into, and shredding and recycling all other unnecessary paper.
Take inventory of your pantry.
The end of the year is the perfect time to assess the state of your pantry: what can stay and what needs to go? It’s often easy to forget how long baking goods like flour and sugar have been in your pantry, so check out these items – if they’re still fresh, hold onto them. If not, toss them and buy new baking goods. The same goes for your spice rack – if your spices look old and expired, toss them out and start fresh for the new year.
Separate kitchen tools with dividers.
When is the last time you opened your kitchen drawers, only to be greeted by a mess of tangled tools? If this sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. Consider investing in drawer dividers and organize your kitchen tools from biggest to smallest, or most-used to least-used. You’ll instantly feel more organized and calm each time you reach for the drawer handle.
Make bathroom countertops less chaotic.
How often have you wasted time rummaging through your cosmetics bag – only to find that what you were looking for was in the cabinet or already on the bathroom counter? Clear off bathroom counters and invest in containers that make it easy to find that you need to get ready in the morning.
Organize bookcases with design in mind.
Did you know that organizing your bookcases can transform your living space? It’s true! If your shelves are cluttered with old books, take time the first go through what you don’t need and donate those old books. From there, organize books by size and color. You’ll be surprise by what a little organization can do for your formerly overwhelmed shelves!
