3 Back-To-School Housekeeping Hacks For Busy Families

3 Back-To-School Housekeeping Hacks For Busy Families

Summer is winding to a close, and that means that back-to-school season is just around the corner. As schedules become busier during the week, encouraging kids to help out around the house with cleaning and housekeeping is a must. Ready for a helping hand? Here are three back-to-school housekeeping hacks that we love.

Pack lunches – and then clean up!

After sandwiches have been made and lunch bags have been packed, the kitchen can be quite the mess. Ask kids to help pick up post-lunch making by having them put used utensils in the dishwasher, putting caps back on condiments and placing ingredients back in the fridge. Bonus points if the kids pack their own lunch boxes, too!

Lay out back-to-school outfits the night before.

Teaching kids to choose their outfits out the night before school is a great way to build a less-stressful morning routine. After choosing their outfits, have kids fold any extra laundry that may be lying around and throw any dirty laundry into the clothing hamper.

Set a bathroom housekeeping routine.

Getting ready for school in the morning can call for a messy bathroom. Between showers and brushing teeth, shampoo and toothpaste is bound to end up where it isn’t meant to be! Combat this by leaving a brief bathroom checklist for kids to complete before leaving the bathroom. This could be simple tasks like “wipe down shower residue once a week,” “clean bathroom mirror twice a week,” or “re-fold washcloths daily” to keep your bathroom cleanliness on track.
